Teenager Owen is just trying to make it through life in the suburbs when his classmate introduces him to a mysterious late-night TV show — a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own. In the pale glow of the television, Owen’s view of reality begins to crack. One of the cult studio A24's biggest hits this year is a queer coming-of-age story with a stunning visual world, flickering in neon lights.

Jane Schoenbrun
Jane Schoenbrun is a non-binary filmmaker and writer who is a proud proponent of a new era of personal queer cinema. Her previous works include the Sundance Film Festival 2021 sensation We're All Going to the World's Fair, A Self-Induced Hallucination and the punk rock variety TV show The Eyeslicer. The 37-year-old director belongs to the generation for whom the TV series of the 1990s, such as Twin Peaks, The X-Files, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, opened up a whole new world where pop culture redefined the rules of visual arts with a previously unimaginable volume and force. Their work is most praised for its accurate portrayal of Gen Y and Gen Z's search for identity, its unclichéd depiction of queer and trans characters and its very unique atmospheric power.
